The first Catholic Church was built in Madoc around 1850 at the site of the "Old Catholic Cemetery" at the southeast corner of highways #62 & #7. In 1817, St. Henry's Church was built in Queensborough. It was closed in 1969.
In 1881, our present church was erected. Madoc, Ormsby and area were originally served from Belleville and from 1851 from Sugar Island (now Stoco). The first resident priest of Madoc was Fr. Thomas Davis, who came in 1879. Sacred Heart of Mary is blessed with a beautiful church and patronage of Our Mother Mary.
